  • I woke up this morning with an awful toothache and decided to get myself an emergency appointment at Azarko. I called at 8am and they were able to get me in at 11:45am this morning. As someone who has high anxiety involving anything to do with dentistry, I was dreading my appointment and considered cancelling it and just dealing with the pain. I did (thankfully) decide to go through with it and I am so glad that I did. The front desk ladies were extremely personable and I felt slightly more at ease from the moment I walked in. The dental assistant who took me to my room and got my x-ray (I didn't catch her name, I'm sorry!) was wonderful. She was so understanding and definitely kept my spirits up despite my pain. She was a wonderful cheerleader through the worst of it! It turned out that I needed to have my tooth extracted and I began to panic internally. Dr.York gave me all my options but ultimately decided an extraction was the best route to take. He walked me through the entire process and was absolutely excellent. The whole procedure was over in less than 20 minutes from being numbed to the tooth being removed. His kind and compassionate demeanour allowed me to relax and allowed them to do their job, and his humour made the experience far superior to any dental work I have ever had done previously. To all of you at Azarko: Thank you for making a less than desirable situation not only tolerable, but for also easing my anxiety behind going to the dentist in the future. I have already got my complete check up booked with Dr.York in a few weeks and this is the first time I can say I am not absolutely dreading it. If you are on the hunt for a new dentist I 100% recommend reaching out to Azarko. I wish I could give them 10 stars.

  • I initiated a visit with Azarko Dental Group for my 2-year old. What I wanted was just a simple visit, a base line for when my son needs to come back for an actual visit he would be a bit familiar with the building, and would not start off his dental journey with sharp objects in his mouth but of kind staff members and doctors. He was well received, patience was given to my monster of a 2 year old, and Dr. Panesar had an appropriate bedside manner for this immature child. Although my son did not cooperate with the doctor, he did not allow the dentist to see his teeth. Regardless, the visit was still a success; my two year old did not leave crying, and he did not receive his prize of a fancy orange bouncy ball (my discernment because he did not cooperate, but the staff were more then generous to offer him a gift)

  • Update- I wish I could leave a new review every time I come- Dr. York has literally helped change my life. I am still smiling everyday because of him. I am still doing great! You are a tooth magician. Just wanted to say Thanks Again! Doctor York is my Tooth Guardian Angel!! There has been a few times now that I have come in some rough conditions and he always comes in to save the day and makes everything seem like a walk in the park! No big deal. and I've had some pretty big deals....Happy New Year! You are amazing! I will be making another appointment soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS! WOULD ALWAYS RECOMEND! ESPECIALLY IF GOING TO THE DENTIST MAKES YOU ANXIOUS! Dr. York and his assistants are no joke. Always feeling welcome and above satisfied!

  • I was received in AZARKO Clinic as an emergency case with dental implants gone wrong. They made time for my assessment and scheduled implants extraction very next day. Dr. Johnston has been a real blessing for a highly anxious person in a lot of pain and discomfort. Implants were placed in my country of birth, Serbia, while I was there recently. I have not been made feel uncomfortable or ashamed for going this route and only asking him to fix the problem someone else created. Dr. Johnston was very realistic and proactive and didn't want to dwell on past events, but how to best find a solution for current situation. He was gentle, reassuring and very transparent throughout the whole process. I am forever grateful to this extraordinary human!

  • 5 stars for Dr. Brett York! I had an implant come off which was installed by another dental firm. My initial thoughts was half a dozen dental appointments and a few thousand dollars to repair the damage. Upon inspection, Dr. York was able to reuse the implant by using some high quality cement and had me out of the chair in 30 minutes. It is service like this that make me a lifetime customer. Thanks for the quick and professional treatment. For excellent and honest dental work, Dr. York definitely fits the bill and can be trusted.

  • I had a great experience at my first visit. It had been awhile seen I'd been to the dentist and had been feeling anxious about it. They were very professional and helpful when explaining a continuing oral care plan. Also the hygienist notice I was having some pain during the cleaning and didn't hesitate to offer topical freezing which was very much welcomed.

  • I have been having York do my dental work for years and he has done a great job on my fillings, caps and my implant. Also for those who hate freezing needles, he is a gentle master at numbing up your jaw. Check out Azarko and Dr. York. No regrets here

    Dr Andreas Azarko

    General Dentist

    Dr. Andreas Azarko graduated from the University of Alberta in 1990 after completing both his Bachelor of Science degree and Doctor of Dental Surgery at the age of 21. He entered private practice alongside his older brother, Dr. Enrico Azarko, establishing what would become the Azarko Dental Group.

    Over the decades, the practice grew into a respected group clinic with multiple dedicated doctors and extended hours of care. Throughout his career, Dr. Azarko enjoyed practicing General Dentistry, incorporating laser treatments and micro-air abrasion techniques where appropriate. While he introduced clear orthodontic options such as Invisalign® into the practice during his active clinical years, he has since stepped back from providing orthodontic services as part of his transition into emeritus status. Dr. Azarko also played a key role in modernizing the clinic, leading the adoption of full digital integration—including iTero digital scanning, digital X-rays, and chairside computer systems—as part of the move toward a fully paperless environment.

    Beyond dentistry, Dr. Azarko has long been an active member of the community, supporting organizations such as Goodwill Industries of Alberta, the Cross Cancer Institute, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In his personal time, he enjoys culinary experimentation, water sports, skiing, and maintaining a regular exercise routine.

    General Dentist

    Dr. Allan Zhang graduated from the University of Alberta in 2002 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

    He provides most dental services as a General Dentist, including wisdom teeth extractions, molar root canal treatment, and selected implant placement.

    Dr. Zhang is proud of his daughter who is also attending the University of Alberta in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. Obviously conversation at home is centred around dentistry.

    General Dentist

    Born and raised in Edmonton, Dr. Panesar earned Bachelor of Science Degrees in Neuroscience and Psychology from the University of Alberta.

    He then went on to complete a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2005 from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario.

    As a General Dentist, Dr. Panesar is an advocate of gentle dental care, and remains committed to building lasting relationships with a "personal touch". Dr. Amar's patients, and their dental experience under his care, are his pride and passion.

    General Dentist

    Dr. Bona Zhang completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Alberta in 2017 and dedicates herself to providing patients, whether a child or elderly, with compassionate and quality care in all aspects of general dentistry. From fillings and extractions, to root canals and crowns, Dr. Zhang enjoys her work and the benefit it brings to her patients. She is also happy to offer orthodontic treatments like invisalign or traditional braces to improve smiles and function.

    In her free time, Dr. Zhang enjoys hosting game nights with her friends and family, cheering on the Edmonton Oilers with her husband (even though he is a Canadiens fan at heart), and cuddling with her three cats!

    General Dentist

    Dr. Brett York is a graduate of the University of Alberta, receiving a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2007. After graduation, Dr. York practiced dentistry in the Edmonton area for one year before moving his practice to Kelowna, British Columbia.

    While in British Columbia, he practiced within a large family practice including extractions/tooth removal, endodontics, and surgical placement and restoration of dental implants.

    Dr. York truly enjoys his profession as a General Dentist and is delighted to offer his services treating regular patients and dental emergencies on Sunday's. While maintaining a regular schedule at Azarko Dental Group during the week, the addition of Sunday's has been a rewarding experience to provide dental care on a day patients may urgently require a dentist.

    In his free time, Dr. York enjoys downhill and cross-country skiing, sailing, travel, and spending time with family.

    General Dentist

    Dr. Dubin Roy is a skilled and patient-focused dentist with over seven years of experience in general dentistry. He is passionate about Molar Endodontics, Surgical Extractions, Crown and Bridge work, and advanced adhesive dentistry. Dr. Roy has developed strong proficiency in rural dental care, providing individualized treatment plans and performing a wide range of procedures, including root canals, wisdom tooth extractions, and restorative treatments.

    Dr. Roy holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the Govt. Dental College And Hospital in Gujarat, India. His career includes significant experience working in a rural setting in Rajasthan, India, where he managed oral health care for over 30,000 individuals and performed numerous oral surgeries. Dr. Roy is committed to continuous education, having attended specialized courses in biomimetic dentistry and advanced restorative techniques.

    He is fluent in multiple languages and enjoys spending time with his pets and playing guitar.

    Dr. Nandini Mehta is a dedicated general dentist known for her calm, patient centred approach and commitment to high quality care. She focuses on creating a comfortable, positive experience where patients feel at ease and well informed.

    She holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from India. Dr. Mehta offers a full range of dental services, including restorative care, crowns and bridges, root canal therapy, Invisalign, surgical extractions, and preventive dentistry, with an emphasis on precision and long term oral health. She is passionate about continuing education and is currently advancing her training through KOIS courses.

    She has a special interest in helping anxious patients feel comfortable through gentle care and clear communication, and has volunteered with several underserved communities. Outside the clinic, she enjoys travelling, hosting friends, playing board games, and catching Edmonton Oilers games.
