Our Dentists

  • Dr. Allan Zhang

    General Dentist

    Dr. Allan Zhang graduated from the University of Alberta in 2002 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

    He provides most dental services as a General Dentist, including wisdom teeth extractions, molar root canal treatment, and selected implant placement.

    Dr. Zhang is proud of his daughter who is also attending the University of Alberta in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. Obviously conversation at home is centred around dentistry.

  • Dr. Amarjit Panesar

    General Dentist

    Born and raised in Edmonton, Dr. Panesar earned Bachelor of Science Degrees in Neuroscience and Psychology from the University of Alberta.

    He then went on to complete a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2005 from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario.

    As a General Dentist, Dr. Panesar is an advocate of gentle dental care, and remains committed to building lasting relationships with a "personal touch". Dr. Amar's patients, and their dental experience under his care, are his pride and passion.

  • Dr. Andreas Azarko

    General Dentist

    Dr. Andreas Azarko graduated from the University of Alberta in 1990 after earning his Bachelor of Science degree and Doctor of Dental Surgery at the age of 21. Following graduation, Andreas entered into private practice as a General Dentist with his older brother Dr. Enrico Azarko, establishing Azarko Dental Group. Since this time, Azarko Dental Group has grown into a group practice with numerous dedicated doctors offering extended hours.

    Over the years, Dr. Azarko enjoys practicing General Dentistry utilizing laser treatments and micro-air abrasion techniques wherever applicable. Clear orthodontic options became a part of his practice with the advent of Invisalign®. As this product has evolved, the range of treatment options now available in General Dentistry offer many new alternatives. Combining the benefits of clear Invisalign® aligners with traditional fixed braces as necessary, Dr. Andreas Azarko recommends treatments most suited to each individual patient's needs.

    Most recently, Andreas has brought complete digital integration to Azarko Dental Group including iTero digital scanning, digital X-rays and chairside computer integration as part of our transition into a paperless treatment facility.

    Dr. Azarko is an active member of the community, supporting numerous local charities including the Goodwill Industries of Alberta, the Cross Cancer Institute and Make a Wish Foundation. Outside of the practice of General Dentistry, he enjoys culinary experimentation, water sports, skiing and maintaining a regular exercise program.

  • Dr. Bona Zhang

    General Dentist

    Dr. Bona Zhang completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Alberta in 2017 and dedicates herself to providing patients, whether a child or elderly, with compassionate and quality care in all aspects of general dentistry. From fillings and extractions, to root canals and crowns, Dr. Zhang enjoys her work and the benefit it brings to her patients. She is also happy to offer orthodontic treatments like invisalign or traditional braces to improve smiles and function.

    In her free time, Dr. Zhang enjoys hosting game nights with her friends and family, cheering on the Edmonton Oilers with her husband (even though he is a Canadiens fan at heart), and cuddling with her three cats!

  • Dr. Brett York

    General Dentist

    Dr. Brett York is a graduate of the University of Alberta, receiving a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2007. After graduation, Dr. York practiced dentistry in the Edmonton area for one year before moving his practice to Kelowna, British Columbia.

    While in British Columbia, he practiced within a large family practice including extractions/tooth removal, endodontics, and surgical placement and restoration of dental implants.

    Dr. York truly enjoys his profession as a General Dentist and is delighted to offer his services treating regular patients and dental emergencies on Sunday's. While maintaining a regular schedule at Azarko Dental Group during the week, the addition of Sunday's has been a rewarding experience to provide dental care on a day patients may urgently require a dentist.

    In his free time, Dr. York enjoys downhill and cross-country skiing, sailing, travel, and spending time with family.

  • Dr. Ursula Szkudlarek

    General Dentist

    Dr. Ursula Szkudlarek is a General Dentist who joined the Azarko team several years ago, having built a strong base of faithful clients throughout this time.

    She is proud to work in a clinic that strives to provide solid and comfortable care to every patient.

    Outside of dentistry, Dr. Szkudlarek enjoys spending her time exploring the great outdoors with her family and dogs, as well as pursuing passions such as photography and painting.

    Ursula is a member in good standing of the Alberta Dental Association and College and the Canadian Dental Association.

  • Dr. Enrico Azarko

    General Dentist

    Dr. Enrico (Rico) Azarko is a graduate of the University of Alberta, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1979. Dr. Azarko, at the young age of 23, along with Dr. U. Zuch, co-founded our dental clinic at its present location in 1979.

    Dr. Azarko has a diversified interest in General Dentistry performing a wide range of dental procedures including dental surgery, root canal therapy, and cosmetic smile enhancement techniques.

    In 1980, Dr. Azarko incorporated a subsidiary side to our dental practice, namely an Emergency Dental Care department. This has required coordination of extra staff and associate dentists, but it allows us to see people with unforeseen dental problems daily. The office is open seven days a week for this purpose.

    Outside the dental office, Dr. Azarko is kept busy with his wife and two children. Skiing, canoeing, bicycling, jogging, and hiking are common family activities. Racquetball, golfing and curling are also activities that Dr. Azarko partakes in. Leisure time is for friends and family visits, videos and movies, games, and reading. When time permits, he and his family enjoy traveling and exploring new surroundings.
